2019, The Year of Mainstream Cannabis

In 2018, we saw an incredible amount of social acceptance when it comes to legal cannabis, and the products containing it. The industry has rapidly taken shape, and each time a measure for legalization is on a ballot and passes, new opportunity for industry-wide growth arises. With that, innovative products incorporating one of the two major extracts, be it THC or CBD, are being developed and released to the medical and recreational populace, where cannabis is legal. With hemp recently ruled as federally legal, expect CBD to be the star of the show, while the country figures out its stance on THC.

Looking at Google Trends, one could point at the soaring popularity of a particular search query over the course of 2018, being “CBD gummies.” This category of edibles can be viewed as the most accessible, convenient, discreet, and delicious way of ingesting CBD, a once unknown, now mainstream-marveled extract of cannabis. New products containing CBD are constantly hitting stores and e-commerce sites alike, for human consumption in one way or another, be it concentrates, edibles, tinctures, capsules, topicals, the list goes on…

If you’ve never visited a dispensary in San Diego, look no further than March & Ash. Just left of the main entrance to their shop area, you’ll find a wide array of beverages infused with either THC or CBD. From tea, coffee, wine, soda, sports beverages, to CBD-infused water and etc., there’s something for any occasion, or mood.

A new challenger emerges: Cannabier, cannabis infused beer.

Local company Cannabinier’s recent launch of their cannabis-infused brewery, Two Roots, with approximately 150,000 square feet of production space in CA & NV has some major ears perked. With lower doses of THC or CBD, these beverages have been developed in a way to mimic the effects of their alcoholic cousins. Of course, these concoctions are non-alcoholic, so if you’re looking for some sort of nightmarish 4Loko-esque experience, this is probably not the drink for you (sorry, Gage  & DuXplosion). However, faster metabolization rates than edibles, faster expulsion, and no hangover? Is this real life? As more US consumers find solace in cannabis in one way or another, a palpable shift is felt as to where modern society is headed when it was announced that alcoholic beverage brand conglomerate Constellation invested $4 billion into Canopy Growth, a Canadian cannabis powerhouse.

As infused beverages will certainly retain the spotlight this year, there are multiple avenues in which legal cannabis is improving quality of life for not only people, but for our furry friends as well! Companies like Honest Paws are at the forefront with products like CBD infused treats, soft-chews, tinctures, coconut oil, and peanut butter. While the company has focused mostly on dogs, both dogs and cats can enjoy the benefits of CBD through their tincture line.

Honey Oil offers our own brand of dog-treats, available online right now, along with a variety of CBD products meant for human consumption as well.

Check out our online store right here and grab some for yourself if you’d like to see how our CBD products compare to others on the market.
